Calendar of activities include a workshop for goalkeepers on Aug 30 and a goalkeeper tournament on Aug 31
August marks the first anniversary of Orlando City Soccer School (OCSS) at PUCRS’ Sports Park. The school aims to develop soccer skills in youth aged 3 – 21, through an educational perspective. The program is offered in English.
Overall, 260 students are enrolled in the program, including boys and girls. For next year, the goal is to double the number of students enrolled. The methodology and training schedule were devised in the United States and are the same as that used in the professional Orlando City team.
To mark the anniversary, the Soccer School offered a special program aimed for at students and their families at the Sports Park on Aug 17. The calendar of activities include a workshop for goalkeepers on Aug 30, and a goalkeeper tournament on Aug 31.
Notable visitors
In these 365 days, OCSS opened its doors to former Brazilian National Team players, Alex and Ricardinho, who exchanged experiences about everyday soccer life with school teachers. They also gave students valuable pieces of advice. Mike Potempa, the director of the Soccer Institute at Monteverde Academy made his presence felt, too. The Academy is known as the high school best soccer program in the United States.
A privileged structure
Classes are taught in a privileged structure at the Sports Park. The Orlando City Soccer School is known for having state-of-the-art training facilities designed to ensure quality of its programs and safety of its students.
The School relies on six Football 7-a-side pitches with synthetic turf, one regular synthetic turf pitch, a FIFA optimal-size natural grass field and six covered multisport pitches for soccer classes.
Unique methodology
The lessons are unique in a number of ways. For instance, they are taught entirely in English. In addition to that, students have the chance to engage in socializing activities and make new friends, improve physical fitness and technical skills as well as have soccer practice. The school’s methods allow for teachers, administrators and students’ families to better connect to OCSS, in an effort to advance an extremely favorable environment for their development.
