Cláudio Sampaio to serve as visiting professor under PUCRS-PrInt
Early in July, Business School professor Dr Cláudio Sampaio arrived at the École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Montréal (HEC Montreal), in Canada. He will be staying there for six months as a visiting professor under the program PUCRS-PrInt (Call 1/2019 – Senior Visiting Professor Abroad). He is working under the cooperation project Macro and microeconomic aspects associated with economic, social, human and environmental development, which is coordinated by Dr Edimara Luciano, under the priority area The World in Motion: Individuals and Society.
During his stay in Canada, Sampaio will be doing research on the analysis of attitude and behavior in collaborative consumption, in partnership with Professor Malei Pozzebon, with whom he has been working since 2005. The way Sampaio sees it, this area of study is very important because there is a discrepancy between people’s attitudes and opinions about shared economy (collaborative consumption) and their effective participation in it. The research he will be working on in Canada intends to bring discussions on the dimensions of collaborative consumption to a higher level. It also intends to address the way the representations of such form of consumption can influence attitude and behavior.
In addition to this activity, Sampaio seeks to develop strategic actions in order to consolidate the partnership between PUCRS and HEC Montreal, especially in the area of Business Administration. These actions are intended to culminate in joint publications in international journals, application for research projects as well as mobility of faculty and students.
