Event congregated representatives of 50 Latin American and Caribbean institutions members with ODUCAL
The 1st Seminar of Internationalization of Higher Education, held at the Asociación de Universidades Católicas de América Latina y el Caribe (ODUCAL), brought together representatives of around 50 Catholic universities form Latin America and the Caribbean at the Universidad del Valle de Atemajac (UNIVA) in Guadalajara, Mexico. The event fostered discussions on internationalization and promoted strategic alliance networks as well as faculty and student interactions. Its participants had the chance to study the possibility of joining international consortia and learn about the case studies of Mexican universities such as Tecnológico de Monterrey, UNIVA and Universidad Vasco de Quiroga.
In addition to bringing these institutions together and strengthening the cooperation networks, the meeting served to launch two projects. The ODUCAL Progressio Americae is a management platform that will create a network of graduate studies – Master’s and PhD – that will be offered by these universities. The Americarum Mobitas Program introduces a management platform for the mobility of faculty and students from the partner universities in an effort to facilitate inter-institutional exchange.
PUCRS made its presence felt at the event through the Office for International Cooperation’s Administrative Coordinator, Sandra Mino, from from Jun 19 – 21. During her visit to Mexico, she also attended meetings in the Marist Provinces of Central Mexico, Mexico City and the Marist Province of Western Mexico in Guadalajara. She presented the international undergraduate project for Mexican High School students. She also paid a visit to Universidad Marista de Guadalajara, a partner of PUCRS. Her visit served to strengthen the partnership, especially in the areas of undergraduate and graduate mobility.
