Session featured Ruhr-Universität Bochum professor, Bernhard Grümme
The Center for European and German Studies (CDEA), in partnership with the Graduate Program in Theology, promoted the 1st CDEA Conference 2019, on Mar 25. The lecture Religion in the late modern area, only to be endured privately? On the limits and possibilities of a public religion was delivered by the Professor and Deputy Dean of the School of Theology of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Bernhard Grümme. The German researcher discussed the relationship between State and religion and the possibilities to bring religion and the public sphere together.
Grümme served as a Visiting Professor at PUCRS in 2015 and 2017 and has been working on specific projects with the School of Humanities. The lecture was mediated by Rev. Erico Hammes, who served as a Visiting Professor at the German institution in 2018. On the occasion, Hammes and Grümme worked together on an intensive seminar.
The visit also included a welcome activity at the Office for International Cooperation as he had the chance to learn more about the actions of internationalization of the University. Grümme is expected to work on new cooperation projects to keep the partnership between the institutions going.
