PUCRS opened its doors to one of the events in support of the German Language Week, a joint initiative involving the Embassies of Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland and Germany. It featured the exhibit of a German movie, Measuring the World (Die Vermessung der Welt), by Detlev Buck.
The motion picture tells the story of two German scientists, Alexander von Humboldt and Carl Friedrich Gauß, at the beginning of the 19th century. After the movie, School of Humanities professor Dr Ronel Alberti da Rosa mediated a debate with the audience.
The German Language Week was offered by the Center for European and German Studies (CDEA), a joint initiative of PUCRS and UFRGS. The Center is committed to discussions on globalization, sustainable development and cultural diversity in view of the different experiences and developments in Europe / Germany and Brazil.
