On Sept 14, Tecna – Audiovisual Technological Center of RS opened its doors to John Fraser, an American specialist relying on more than 30 years of experience in propelling research findings into the market. Fraser delivered a lecture on intellectual property for creative and audiovisual production. He has been working with innovation in this sector and addressed aspects such as licensing, technology transfer and commercialization. The event was set up by the Technology Transfer Office of PUCRS (ETT) and Tecna, and was sponsored by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).

According to Fraser, “technology is disrupting the film industry. Opportunities are manifold since there will always be a position to be taken in the film industry innovation chain. As for Tecna and its potential, he wonders “if a mid-size US university, more visibly known for football than for academic merits, can make a contribution to Hollywood, why can’t PUCRS ”?
