PUCRS is ranked as the 2nd Best Private University in Brazil, the 1st one in the South of Brazil among private universities and is among the 23 Best Universities in Latin America considering both Public and Private Universities, according the Times Higher Education – Latin America Rankings, released on Thursday, July 7th. Considering the performance ranking of citations, PUCRS 3rd in Brazil and 9th in Latin America among public and private universities.
The University also is 6th in the country in the category Industry Income, which measures the university involvement with research and innovation companies. The Times Higher Education Latin America University Rankings ranks the top 50 universities in Latin America and is based on the same strict criteria as the THE World University Rankings, one of the most important rankings in the world, but with special adaptations to better reflect the characteristics of Latin America’s universities.
The universities are judged across all of their core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook – to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available in order to reflect the qualities of Latin America’s institutions. Brazil has the largest number of universities in the chart, claiming 23 out of the top 50 spots, including 5 universities within the top 10.
